It acceded to processes such as the APE-GPP Protocol for Ecological Public Purchases, the Pact of Mayors for Climate and Energy, to the ISO certified Management Systems (Quality, Events and soon Energy) and it promoted the EU Ecolabel and the project “... towards sustainable tourism”.

In 2020 it was also the first Italian finalist city for the "European Green Capital" award; it received the "Covenant of Mayors" award of the Covenant of Mayors for large cities for demonstrating a growing commitment to implement the energy transition and the climate.
