Innovation, ecological transition, climate change, social inclusion. These are the topics addressed by the more than 750 delegates including mayors, leaders, stakeholders and innovators from 160 cities who came to Torino on 16 and 17 March for the fifth edition of the Cities Forum, the most important biennial event dedicated to urban policies, organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy and hosted at the OGR - Officine Grandi Riparazioni.

Two intense days of workshops and debates on the future of urban areas, dealing with topics from the UN 2030 Agenda, and technical visits to sites of urban transformation in Torino.

The bid won by the City of Torino in collaboration with Turismo Torino and Provincia Convention Bureau had successfully beaten off competition from Tallin and Ljubljana, overtaking the Italian cities of Milan and Genoa. Merit for a bid that had highlighted the major investments in urban regeneration and social cohesion in recent decades, following Torino's transformation from a city with a single manufacturing vocation to a city of multiple vocations and innovation.
