Lingotto: a futuristic multifunctional centre that offers one of the most advanced facilities in terms of the breadth of its activities, services and exhibition spaces. This is a unique setting to host events, meetings and conferences. It blends history, art and culture, providing a superb combination of the past and modernity. Lingotto was the first Fiat car factory. Built between 1917 and 1920, at the end of the 1980s the building was modified and became an advanced multifunctional centre, to a design by Renzo Piano. The Lingotto Conference Centre was inaugurated on 6 April 1994, designed specifically as a major conference destination. One of the building's vast courtyards hosts the Auditorium, a highly flexible hall with a maximum capacity for 2,090 people which can be reconfigured for 990 and 450 guests. The mobile ceiling, stage and seating of the hall and an automatic system can vary the acoustics and modify the sound system. In an area of 22,800 square metres, 11 permanent rooms have also been created, all connected, with a seating capacity for 480 – 210 – 120 – 75 – 50 guests, for a total of 3,500 people. The Lingotto Conference Centre can offer logistical and technological support for all users. It is possible to set up computerised reception points in four different sectors of the foyer and side galleries. The entire centre is constantly monitored from a control room that verifies the functioning of the electrical and electronic safety and air-conditioning systems. Lingotto is a multifaceted centre whose conference facilities are completed by a prestigious Fair Centre, with exhibition spaces of over 60,000 square metres, the NH Lingotto Hotel and Double Tree by Hilton Turin Lingotto , the UCI Cinemas multiplex cinema with seating for 2,000, the “8Gallery” shopping centre, various food outlets and car parking for 5,000 vehicles. September 2002 saw the inauguration of the Giovanni and Marella Agnelli art gallery; the Scrigno treasure house hosts the permanent collection with works by Tiepolo, Canaletto, Canova, Manet, Renoir, Matisse, Balla, Severini, Picasso and Modigliani.
